Why Use Belbin Reports?

March 8, 2018 Max Isaac

The Belbin methodology offers unique insights into a person’s natural talents and skills as they relate to working with others, either one-on-one or in groups.

Individuals go through a process where they rate themselves on a number of attributes, then ask coworkers, bosses, or staff rate them as well. The reports generated from this process have two primary applications:

1) Provides professional development focus for individuals

  • Better understanding of their collaborative strengths and weaknesses

  • Identify what they can develop to better contribute to a team or group

2) Help teams at any level — executive suite to frontline workspaces — operate more efficiently and effectively

  • Better assignment of team tasks

  • More efficient use of meeting time

  • Better alignment between the individuals on the team

  • Increased trust

  • Improved communication through a shared language around collaboration
